The
following are some general funeral guidelines for Christian Bereaved
Families.
A.
What should I do, when Natural death at home, private hospital or nursing home
-
Call
your family doctor or a doctor from the hospital / nursing home to
obtain the Certificate of Cause of Death.

If
there is no doctor in attendance, the deceased's next of kin can
report the death in person to any neighbourhood police post or
police station. Bring along the deceased's I/C or passport and
the informant's I/C. The police will then arrange for an
Inspecting Officer.

The
Certificate of Cause of Death issued by the family doctor or
some private hospital must be changed to the Certificate of
Registration of Death; and the Permit to Cremate / Bury
in any neighbourhood police post or at the Registry of Births and
Deaths (SIR building). Bring along the Certificate of Cause of
Death, the deceased's I/C and the informant's I/C.

Call
your church pastor to inform him / her of the death.

Call
Hosanna Bereavement Services @ Tel : 6352-7797 for
arrangement. The Funeral Director will move the
deceased after the Certificate of Cause of Death is issued.
B.
What should I do, when Sudden death at home
-
The
deceased's next of kin can report the death in person to any
neighbourhood police post or police station. Bring along the
deceased's I/C or passport and the informant's I/C. The police
will then notify the Coroner and the deceased will be transported by
police to the mortuary at the Department of Forensic Medicine in
Singapore General Hospital. The Certificate of Registration
of Death will be issued during office hours.

Call
your church pastor to inform him / her of the death.

The
next of kin is to be at the Coroner's office at 8:00 am the
following morning to explain the death occurrence. Bring along
all supporting medical documents and medicine consumed by the
deceased before death. The Coroner will then decide whether an
autopsy is required to be performed on the deceased.

If
no autopsy is required, the Certificate of Registration of Death
with the Permit to Cremate / Bury will be issued by the
attached Registrar.

If
autopsy is required, the Certificate of Registration of Death
and the Permit to Cremate / Bury will only be issued after
the autopsy.

Call

arrangement. The Funeral Director will move the
deceased after the Certificate of Cause of Death is
issued. The next of kin must identify the body in the presence
of the Funeral Director.
C.
What should I do, when Natural death at the government or restructured hospital
-
Obtain
the Certificate of Registration of Death and the Permit to
Cremate / Bury from the hospital. The Registrar attached
to the hospital will issue them during office hours.

Call
your church pastor to inform him / her of the death.

Call

arrangement. The Funeral Director will move the
deceased after the Certificate of Cause of Death is
issued.
D.
What should I do, when Death outside Singapore
-
Obtain
Death Certificate from the country where the death occurs.
-
Obtain
repatriation document from the Singapore Embassy / Representative
Office in that country.

A
Funeral Director in that country will make the repatriation
arrangements as required.

Call
your church pastor to inform him / her of the death.
